Ever since George Clooney proposed to Amal Alamuddin, her family has been invading his life. I say this like it’s a bad thing, when really it just makes me happy. Amal has a sister and two half-brothers, plus both of her parents are living and very involved with her life. Clooney invited the whole Alamuddin clan to Italy, where they’ve been yachting and hanging out at Clooney’s Lake Como mansion. It’s been said before that Amal’s mother has been helping Amal plan the wedding, and it’s also been said that George is turning into something of a bridezilla with all of the wedding details. But now sources claim that Amal’s family has been pulling the strings all along, because they’re the ones paying for it!

Amore — from the Alamuddins! Us Weekly has learned who’s footing the bill for George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin’s highly-anticipated wedding in Venice, Italy, and it turns out it’s not the two-time Oscar winner.

“Crazy enough,” a source reveals in the new issue of Us Weekly, “her family is paying for most of it!”

As previously reported by Us, the bride’s parents also had a say in when the wedding would take place. Like Clooney, Ramzi and Baria Alamuddin were anxious to have the nuptials this fall. An insider told Us shortly after the couple’s engagement that the Lebanon-born beauty’s mom and dad were “old-fashioned when it comes to these things.”

Alamuddin’s mother, Baria, is an editor at Lebanese newspaper Al Hayat. She’s previously interviewed foreign leaders on TV, including Bill Clinton and Tony Blair. Amal’s father, Ramzi, is a retired business professor who taught at the Beirut branch campus of American University.

The first source adds that the future spouses are currently putting the final touches on their upcoming Sept. 27 wedding in the Floating City. “It’s all very classy,” the insider says of the black-tie affair.

Do you believe this? Do you believe a retired professor and a newspaper editor can afford a pricey and Hollywood-style wedding in Italy? I don’t believe it. I’ll believe the Alamuddins are helping out where they can, like buying Amal’s wedding gown and offering to, like, pay for the flowers or whatever. But the details about the wedding are just too Clooney – I think he’s paying for a lot of it. Oh, and “sources” are still saying that Tala Alamuddin, Amal’s younger sister, is going to be Amal’s maid of honor. What do you want to bet that the sisters are fighting over the maid of honor’s dress? Because this is Tala’s style.

Last thing – Rande Gerber was photographed loading cases of tequila onto a plane, so now everyone’s like “George is going to have 100 cases of tequila at this wedding.” Ew, I could not do tequila at a fancy wedding. Tequila is one of those “only when I was young” liquors. If I tried to do a tequila shot right now, I would vom.
